The Government has identified three 'core subjects' which are most important and are monitored at primary school in both key stages 1& 2. These are English, maths and science.

The Tutorial Support Service is an independent company that specialises in support work for primary school pupils in English, maths and science.  You may be aware of our sister companies AVP, Didactics, School Software Warehouse and Spectrum Educational, which have been established and working in partnership with schools over the last 30 years.

Pupils have part of the curriculum that they study at home with their parents. The course of study is constructed to a pupil’s individual needs.  Each lesson is designed to be effective within pupils' concentration levels, approximately 10-15 minutes, depending on age and ability.  Lessons are received either on DVD or video.

The Curriculum study pupils do at home is designed to work in tandem with the lessons they do at school.  It supports and reinforces the work as it happens at school.  It is not designed to break new ground.  However, pupils can use these lessons to support learning at school, recapture forgotten principles and of course for reference and revision at important times.

Qualified teachers present short clear lessons that follow the National Curriculum.

Working at home eliminates peer pressure and allows pupils to work at their own pace.  Concentration levels have been proven to increase dramatically and of course there are no outside distractions.  Pupils gain a confidence and enthusiasm that enriches all curricular activities, thus making a school environment more fulfilling, enjoyable and ultimately the pupil more successful.

The Tutorial Support Service monitors, evaluates and rewards the pupil's work.  A FREE Tutorial Support teachers helpline is available to both pupils and parents.
